Whatever happend to ccMixters and Creative Commons RFP

I could go ask over on ccmixter – I probably will.

But seemingly there has been no interest. Everybody that reads about Creative Commons know they’d love to spin off a good story about a project like this. Fancy that…

It’s obvious that there would be some branding value in the ccmixter site – it’s visited by a lot of talented and progressive people – I’m guessing they at least buy a lot of hardware (perhaps TC Electronic should have made a proposal to run it).

Anyway, not much worth in guessing about this and that. What I really wanted to explicitly wonder about was the non-existent focus on the wonderful CMS software ccHost, that could be a potential booster in commercial interest.

Just like Automattic has made it with Wordpress – a media/it/whatnot could easily gain momentum by adding services to a GPL licensed award winning software.

Just a thought. At least a music hardware brand and progressive media company could profit from the spinoffs out there and available.
